Getting Back Into The Workforce

Deedra's Story

At Forward Training Center of Hood County (Granbury Texas), their ministry team serves men and women from all walks of life and all ages. They often see people over 50 who have been out of the workforce for an extended period of time due to differing circumstances, and needing help finding and keeping employment.

Deedra's story was no different. She had been out of work for an extended period of time because she needed to help take care of her mother, and she needed help with getting back into the workforce. She discovered Forward Training Center from a Facebook advertisement, and decided to connect in order to brush up on her skills. She began taking computer skills classes at the ministry, two nights a week for four months. She was then introduced to Jobs for Life.

“I didn’t know what it was at first, but now I would recommend this program to anyone." Deedra says. "Any age, whatever background you have, it’s a great place. I learned how to be positive, how to dress for success, and I learned that I am valuable. I learned more about God. I learned how to write a resume and make it better. It’s an amazing program.”

Deedra landed two interviews back-to-back and felt confident stepping forward in her career.

“Because of my knowledge and information learned at Jobs for Life, my recent interviews asked exactly what I learned,” Deedra said. “If it can happen for me, it can happen for you.”

And, she’s so right—Deedra got the job! We're so proud of you, Deedra!
