I graduated from the Jobs for Life class at The Journey House (Richmond, VA) in Dec 2017. I was so happy to have my mom and my son witness me receiving my Certificate of Completion! I had not finished anything in a very long time, so I was proud that I took the time to improve myself by participating in the class.
When you have an addiction, you don't do anything good for yourself. The class helped me put my future first instead of my addiction and I did something positive for my life. It helped me overcome the roadblocks in my life too. My Champion (mentor) helped me with a new résumé and continues to encourage me.
Now I'm employed and love my job! I have a better relationship with my mom and son and I will celebrate 2 years being "clean from my addiction" on Feb 3rd! I'm excited to be a JfL grad.
