"What do you see when you look at me?" As a little girl growing up I always wondered what people saw when they met me. I would constantly fret – racing thoughts would flood my mind as I dissected my conversations with others wondering if somehow my words betrayed me by exposing my pain and anguish. Do they know my secret? Did they know at the age of 5 my first job was the gatekeeper for my family? Do they see my shame? Can they feel the brokenness emanating from my words? Please don’t see me.
