Jesse Warfield methodically strolls back and forth as he teaches the JfL class held during the day at Lawndale Community Church in the heart of Chicago, IL. 14 students from the community are attentively following his every word since they know what they’re learning can change their lives. How do they know? Because of all the people who have gone before them.

In a short tour of Lawndale, a community ministry that covers two full blocks on Chicago’s west side consisting of the church, a health center, a youth center, and a substance abuse treatment home called the Hope House, Jesse introduces his guests to one JfL graduate after the other.
There’s Marvin, a recent graduate working as a part of the church’s ministry; Theo, who works with the youth at the church and is a part time clown for birthdays and other events; Jason, who oversees the Wolfpack Club, a sports ministry for 1,000 kids in the community; Antonio who has been working at the Health Center for two years after his graduation from Jobs for Life; and finally, Courtney who is back in the class for the third time because she wants a refresher to help her reach her goals.
At the end of the tour, Jesse is frantically approached by Daunte because he’s concerned it’s too late for him to participate in the current JfL class. Jesse tells him if he gets all of his information together and shows up on time the next day, he would have a spot for him. Who knows, maybe Daunte will be one of Jesse’s stops on his next tour of Lawndale.
