Why does the city rejoice when the righteous prosper?  Who are the righteous?  What inspires everyone in the city - including those at the bottom - to celebrate wildly when the righteous flourish?  How can that happen in your city?  How might your city be a place where you catch a glimpse of the Kingdom of God and push back the devastating effects of poverty, injustice, disease, oppression, and discrimination?

Dr. Amy Sherman will give us a picture of what this can look like by describing principles contained in her new book, Rejoicing the City - Transforming our Communities through Vocational Stewardship.  You'll not only be inspired but learn practical steps for the way you and those in your community can be used by God to enable your entire city to rejoice.

A long time friend of Jobs for Life, Amy is the director of Center for Faith in Communities and a Senior Fellow at the Sagamore Institute for Policy Research. She is the author of four books, numerous "how-to" ministry manuals, scores of published articles and a frequent speaker at conferences gathering Christian community ministry practitioners and at public policy events related to faith-based initiatives. She has served as an advisor to the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, provided expert testimony at Congressional hearings, and briefs local, state, and federal public officials on policies regarding faith-based social services.
