Advance Memphis (www.advancememphis.org) was founded in 1999 to bring about economic revitalization in the inner city of Memphis, TN. Specifically, it focuses on the 38126 zip code area, the poorest zip code in TN, which includes and surrounds the Cleaborn/Foote public housing developments.

Having led its first Jobs for Life class with 3 students in 2007, none of whom graduated, Advance Memphis now helps over 100 individuals per month obtain employment.  Companies are approaching Advance because of their need to find great employees.  In fact, one Memphis company has hired 70 JfL graduates from Advance Memphis!

Because of its efforts.  World Magazine was just awarded Advance Memphis the Hope Award for Effective Compassion (Southern Region).
