We are humbled to share that Advance Memphis has received the Hope Award for Effective Compassion (Southern Region) from World Magazine, with a $5,000 grant from the American Bible Society. You can read more about the award here. You can see the article about Advance ("Self Healing Hood," by Daniel
Olasky) here. In July, World Magazine will host online voting to determine the winner of the National Award. Advance Memphis will "compete" against the winners of the West, Midwest, and Northeast Regional Awards for this award. If you're a World subscriber, stay tuned for instructions on how to vote. If you're not a subscriber and you're interested in becoming one, you can click here.
Our prayer is that this award, and the article written to explain our work, will inspire others to start and to support employment ministries. We're also praying that God might use this exposure to bring work to our Outsourcing Program--work from right here in Memphis, or
from anywhere in the US. While it may seem like a crazy dream to hope that Advance Memphis Outsourcing could play a role in Memphis's vision to be an "aerotropolis," capitalizing on our city's potential as an aviation center and our status as a distribution and logistics hub, we're not afraid of dreaming big. After all, we've already been amazed by the things God has done--not least of all the receipt of this award. Thank you to World Magazine and the American Bible Society, and to the volunteers and students who do the real work.
