Wow, what a year! 2009 was filled with challenges and yet the Lord continually amazed us in our work at Jobs for Life as He has helped us accomplish so much. Before we look forward to the new year, we want to stop and thank Him for what He has done:
In 2009, we…
GREW by 12% as 2,418 men and women participated in Jobs for Life classes across the country. There are now 166 JfL training sites located in churches and community organizations in 114 cities and 29 states.
LEVERAGED the passion, time, and expertise of volunteers and leaders at our JfL training sites. They gave over 77,000 hours of biblical job training and 96,000 hours of mentoring and support.
PRODUCEDan extraordinary return on investment. On average, each Jobs for Life training class mobilized 500 hours of volunteer time yielding a value this year of over $1.5 million across all of our sites. That means, every $1 that was invested in JfL created $5 worth of training and support for those served by our sites. By mobilizing churches and community organizations in this way, our cost per person served remained below $250.
LAUNCHED the Jobs for Life 500 – a journey from Oct. to Dec. to impact 500 lives. Friends of JfL ran, walked, biked, swam, etc. on behalf of those served by JfL and raised money from their friends to impact lives. We exceeded our goal as 550 lives will be transformed as a result of the effort! See the results below:
