130 students sign up for JfL Class at site in Memphis,TN
July 30, 2007
Having begun its first Jobs for Life class over one year ago, Advance Memphis has seen tremendous results. That first JfL class had only 3 students and none graduated although each of them found jobs.
Leaders were discouraged by the low numbers but they continued holding classes. Good thing they did. Advance Memphis has had such an impact over the last year through Jobs for Life that over 130 people have registered for the 16 spaces in the next J obs for Life class.
Clearly, the great work at Advance Memphis is having tremendous results causing a great influx of people who need help. Rod Williams, JfL site leader says, "We want our JfL participants to be active learners who will continue to need our support, from those who are praying, tutors, volunteers, and employers, working together in this community."
To enhance the training, Advance Memphis will also offer each JfL student Financial Freedom training so that they can be a good steward of the income they receive.
