Advancing Jobs for Life on Two Fronts in Decatur, Alabama
April 2009
The Advance Memphis Outsourcing Program operates as a not-for-profit business within Advance Memphis. Our vision is to provide students with opportunities for on-the-job application of the skills and concepts learned in Jobs for Life. By offering "real world" experience in a learning environment, we can better prepare Advance graduates for success in the workplace. Students are evaluated based on their production rate, punctuality, leadership skills, and adherence to safety standards. Participation is optional pending a drug screening, and all participants receive an hourly wage.
The Outsourcing Program continues to grow, increasing the ability of the ministry to give Jobs for Life students hands on experience and a paycheck! In the last few days the program has done work for KAM Cross-Supply Services, Inc. (power supply cords were filed .009 of an inch), Wynit Corporation (18,000 packages of Photo Inkjet Paper were shrink wrapped), and C&D Plastic. Praise God for this work that brings hope to the neighborhood!
