| Partners for Properous Athens Celebrates First Jobs for Life Class

Athens, Ga - Jobs for Life presented its first graduating class Jan. 18 at the Holiday Inn in Athens. Part of Partners for a Prosperous Athens, the Jobs for Life program provides job training and support for participants to secure meaningful employment. The 16-session course, taught at the Department of Labor , is supplemented by training with local ministers and business partners. Participating businesses include Thornton Brothers, Holiday Inn, Noramco, Power Partners and the Fanning Institute at the University of Georgia. Participating ministers include Bishop James Washington Jr. of New Grove Baptist Church, the Rev. David T. Batts of Greater Bethel AME Church, the Rev. Ronnie Swoopes, Will Stewart, Jr., Ben K. Willis, Ben G. Rivers and Abraham Mosley.
