Community Improvement Association of the Oranges

In July 2013, St. Matthew AMEC launched its own Community Improvement Association of the Oranges (CIAO) to offer services to impact our community’s quality of life. By partnering with our community we will transform lives day by day. Services include: Food and Clothing Distribution: Our Manna from Heaven partners with the Community Food Bank to distribute food to over 125 families each month. Our Lillian’s Closet gives away new and gently used baby clothing sizes newborn to 5T plus toys. We host an annual fall Community wide Baby Shower. Healthcare: Our HIV/AIDS program HAVEN promotes education and prevention including SISTA (a five week prevention/intervention program), National Week of Healing and Prayer (March), National Testing (June), Worlds AIDS Day (December) and Affordable Health Care (ACA): We provide educational workshops on latest government regulations. Economic Empowerment: Operation Job Hunt consists of a four week intensive training on workforce readiness for job seekers. Our No Ds (No Debts, Delinquencies, and Deficiencies) promotes financial literacy. Workshops include trusts and wills, identity theft, college planning, and tax preparation. Youth at risk plans include programs for after school care, and mentoring.
